Team USA Edges Brazil 5-3 Advancing to Gold-medal Game

In a nail-biter game, Team USA edges Brazil 5-3 advancing to the Gold-medal game on Saturday. Christopher Rivera finished with a solo homerun, walk, 2 runs, and an RBI.

Team USA Win 19-0 vs Ecuador Earns Number 1 Seed in Playoffs

A shut out game versus host, Team USA pummels Ecuador 19-0 earning top seed in the upcoming playoff games. Christopher Rivera went 1-for-2, with 4 runs and a 2-RBI double.

Team USA Pockets Win in Game 1 vs Nicaragua 15-0

PORTOVIEJO, Ecuador--Team USA took Game 1 in stellar fashion beating Nicaragua 15-0. Team USA muscled 14 hits to cap the game, including a nine-run, nine-hit second inning. Christopher Rivera went 2-4 with a double and a single. Next game: Monday, Oct. 19 vs Panama at 9 a.m.

14U USA Baseball: The 18-Man Roster Announced

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.--Today USA Baseball announced its 14U National Team 18-man roster. After three-days of trials, consisting of rigorous practice sessions and intrasquad games between Red and Blue teams, the roster was trimmed down from the original 24 to 18.

Alumni Joe Dudek and Chris Rivera both played on the 2008 14U USA Team in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and return for their second straight year to represent the 2009 14U USA Team.

Team USA will remain in Florida for another day of preparation and training before flying to Ecuador where they will begin international games Saturday.

Red Sweeps Blue in Game 3

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.--An exciting Game 3 brought Blue closer to what looked like a victory, but the rallying Blue team fell one run short, losing to Red 6-5.

The teams were intermixed today to give coaches time to assess players before selecting their final 18-man roster. Tonight the team will learn of their status.

Some game notes: Tyler Alamo went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Ryan Kirby tallied two hits and two RBIs for Red while Chris Rivera singled and had two stolen bases. Joe Dudek, Rivera's room mate from last year's 2008 14U USA Team, garnered the win for Red.

14U USA Baseball: Red Streak Still Going

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Red continued its win streak with 2 victories over Blue, etching Game 2 in the books with a score 8-3.

Several players contributed to Red's hit parade Monday including Matt Vogel with three hits, two stolen bases and two runs. Chris Rivera tallied two more RBIs, totalling four since trials began. James Ziegler's fielder's choice moved Ryan Kirby to second, after Kirby took one for the team and a free pass to first. Nate Mondou slugged-in pinch runner Grayson Ivey with an RBI single to left field to mark the score 4-2. Charles Byers brought Ziegler home with an RBI single. Mondou advance to to third on a throwing error to home plate by the left fielder, followed by another run scored by Jake Jarvis on a throwing error by the third baseman. Byers sailed in to third on the same play lifting Red with a 6-2 lead.

Ivey laced an RBI single and Ziegler sharply hit a double down left field line to insure Red's win 8-3.

Pitcher Jordan Kron picked up the win for Red, muscling two shut-out innings.

14U USA Baseball: Red Team Racks First Win in Game 1

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.--Starting at short stop, Christopher Rivera stepped onto St. Thomas University ready to play in Game 1 of the intrasquad opener. Representing the Red team, Rivera went 1-for-3 and drove in two RBIs. Red takes Game 1 with a score 8-4.
