14U USA Baseball: The 18-Man Roster Announced

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.--Today USA Baseball announced its 14U National Team 18-man roster. After three-days of trials, consisting of rigorous practice sessions and intrasquad games between Red and Blue teams, the roster was trimmed down from the original 24 to 18.

Alumni Joe Dudek and Chris Rivera both played on the 2008 14U USA Team in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and return for their second straight year to represent the 2009 14U USA Team.

Team USA will remain in Florida for another day of preparation and training before flying to Ecuador where they will begin international games Saturday.

Red Sweeps Blue in Game 3

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.--An exciting Game 3 brought Blue closer to what looked like a victory, but the rallying Blue team fell one run short, losing to Red 6-5.

The teams were intermixed today to give coaches time to assess players before selecting their final 18-man roster. Tonight the team will learn of their status.

Some game notes: Tyler Alamo went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Ryan Kirby tallied two hits and two RBIs for Red while Chris Rivera singled and had two stolen bases. Joe Dudek, Rivera's room mate from last year's 2008 14U USA Team, garnered the win for Red.

14U USA Baseball: Red Streak Still Going

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Red continued its win streak with 2 victories over Blue, etching Game 2 in the books with a score 8-3.

Several players contributed to Red's hit parade Monday including Matt Vogel with three hits, two stolen bases and two runs. Chris Rivera tallied two more RBIs, totalling four since trials began. James Ziegler's fielder's choice moved Ryan Kirby to second, after Kirby took one for the team and a free pass to first. Nate Mondou slugged-in pinch runner Grayson Ivey with an RBI single to left field to mark the score 4-2. Charles Byers brought Ziegler home with an RBI single. Mondou advance to to third on a throwing error to home plate by the left fielder, followed by another run scored by Jake Jarvis on a throwing error by the third baseman. Byers sailed in to third on the same play lifting Red with a 6-2 lead.

Ivey laced an RBI single and Ziegler sharply hit a double down left field line to insure Red's win 8-3.

Pitcher Jordan Kron picked up the win for Red, muscling two shut-out innings.

Game 2 versus Czech Republic began with a 1, 2, 3 inning from Ricky Jacquez, which set the tone for the team. A scoreless and hitless four innings, Jacquez commanded the mound. Deshorn Lake closed out the last two innings, giving up only one unearned run and Albert Almora capped the win with a grand slam to end the contest 18-1.

Before the sun rose Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, three teammates met at Los Angeles International Airport where they began their journey to Houston, Texas and then ultimately to Guatemala City, Guatemala. Not only proud representatives of the 14U USA Baseball Team, but as Team USA's Coach Webb declared, the 14U Olympic Team.

One Last Curtain Call

"Twin Towers" Kyle Schultz and Christopher Rivera unveil the championship banner.

Opening Day was its typical gathering of eager little leaguers, coaches, team parents, and a whip of supporting band of family and friends at Buena Park American Little League's Crosby Field. And this old timer league has seen its share of parading teams, in fact, 50 plus years of it.

But it would be a decade before our generation would see a group of strapping young boys and enthusiastic coaches (dads and dads of dads) who would bring home a championship. A vacant spot on the high chain-linked fence above home plate was finally filled with the 2007 Buena Park American Little League All-Stars District 29 Championship banner; as well as the Finalist in the Section 5 Playoffs, the furthest any BPALL team has accomplished in its more than 50 year history. The proud recipients of this glorious title beamed with smiles. Their countenance was strong with confidence. Their demeanor was professional. Men among boys this group of athletes took their final bow, marking the last time this team of All-Stars would be together on Crosby Field. For the city, the league, and history books, it would be the moment to remember for a lifetime.

For many it was the somber reality their child's five, six or seven year little league career has come to an end. But for many it was the dawning of new beginnings. Until a new banner is hoisted, this championship belongs to the team, the league, and to us.

Mustangs Eliminated

Facing what appeared to be football players masquerading as baseball players, the Mustangs' win-streak came to an end losing in the single-elimination round against Michigan Sports Academy Thursday.

A co-op pitching effort by several Mustangs' pitchers was not enough to keep the team in contention.

The Mustangs were a part of the elite "Sweet 16" going into Thursday's game, landing a whopping 8th seed out of 95 teams. That's no small bones.

Much of the team and families remain in Cooperstown to take in the last few days of vacation before heading back to sunny California.

Steve, Christopher and teammate Barrett and fellow coach Darryl head back to the Bronx to say their final goodbyes to loved ones.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Steve Rivera and his NY family for the loss of his father this week from his battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Cooperstown Update: Mustangs Stampede Ahead

Mustangs' Horse Power Pulls Team Ahead

What a morning - a cup of coffee, danish and webcam to start the day. On the other end of the viewing monitor was the Placentia Mustangs transmitted LIVE via the internet in Game 7 of their regular pool play from Cooperstown, NY.

Donned in their red home jerseys, the Mustangs faced their California counterparts, the Santa Fe Spring Thunder, to vie for a favorable seed in the ranking system.

Off to a slow start, the Mustangs gave up two runs in the 1st inning behind starting pitcher Ryan Morgan. The two runs was the extent of the SFS Thunder's threat as Morgan composed himself and shut down their offense, with a little help from the Mustangs' defense.

Christopher Rivera started the score-fest with a RBI sac-fly to dead center and played a stellar shortstop making hard grounders thrown to 1st base look routine. Ryan Morgan laid an effective sac bunt to move the runner to third.

Placing in the top eight after winning against the Santa Fe Springs Thunder earned the Mustangs a "bye," so instead of playing at 6 p.m. tonight, they played at 8 p.m. versus the LaVerne Eagles (CA). The Mustangs dominated the game and outscore the Eagles 8-1.

The Mustangs face the All American Sports Academy, another California product, Thursday 8:30 a.m. GAMECAM schedules are not posted, however a visit to the web site prior to the game is highly recommended to determine field locations. Not all fields have GAMECAMS.

Mustangs Win Big at Cooperstown Dream Park in Game Two of Double-Header

If you perched in front of your computer to watch the Mustangs take on the Avalon Park Thunder of Florida during a LIVE GAMECAM, you know they came away with the win tonight.

Transmitted over the internet some 2,000 miles away it was a site for sore eyes to see familiar faces take the field with confidence both defensively and offensively.

Christopher Rivera staked out shortstop and Ryan Morgan behind the plate as catcher.

The final score Mustangs 5, Avalon Park Thunder 3. (Game details will be forthcoming as they become available. Stay tuned).

As of today, the Mustangs were ranked 12th before tonight's game with 5 wins and 1 loss allowing 2.83 runs in combined games. The Mustangs will need to clinch a win in Wednesday's game to stay in the winner's bracket and to gain favorable seeding for playoffs.

COOPERSTOWN, NY - The Mustangs ousted the heavily favored Texas Stealers in a head-to-head battle with a score 6-4. Straight from the wire, Christopher Rivera went 1-2 with a line drive bullet to center field bouncing off the wall. Ryan Morgan was relief pitcher and closer winning the pitching dual. Two Buena Park All-Stars Prepare for National Games

COOPERSTOWN, NY - With one player, Christopher Rivera, already in New York and the other, Ryan Morgan set to board a plane to head east, Cooperstown finalizes their upcoming National American Tournament of Champions (NATC) at Cooperstown Dream Park.

Single-game elimination is something the Mustangs want to avoid. Divided by the winner's bracket and the loser's bracket Rivera and Morgan have their heart set on landing a high seed on the World Series path. Cooperstown will host 96 teams from around the country.

Teammates Pack Their Bags and Head to East Coast

Two players from Buena Park American Little League, Christopher Rivera and Ryan Morgan will join their travel ball teammates from the Placentia Mustangs, in a trip cross-country to Cooperstown, NY home of the Baseball Hall of Fame to face some of the best teams in the nation.

Rivera and Morgan made a valiant attempt in keeping their All-Star team in contention for a shot at the Little League World Series during their road to Williamsport, PA. Losing to Tustin Western at the Section 5 Finals in La Mirada halted their big league dreams as they settled for Second Place, the farthest any All-Star team has accomplished in the history of BPALL.

Now their sites are set at competing in the National American Tournament of Champions (NATC) at Cooperstown Dream Park. Cooperstown will host 96 teams from around the United States in a World Series of its own. Teams will be able to compete in the Skills Competition in several categories such as King of Swat, Around the Horn Plus, Golden Arm and Road Runner.

Led by Coach Steve Rivera, long-time BPALL coach and dad, teammates Rivera and Morgan have undergone rigorous and structured practices sometimes in 80-90 degree weather while preparing for their trip.

A native New Yorker from the Bronx, Coach Steve is excited about taking his son to see his birth place and attend their first Yankees game together.

“It’s going to be great,” Coach Steve said. “This is the best part of being on a travel ball team. You face higher level competition and what better place to be at than Cooperstown?”

“I can’t wait for it to come,” Morgan said. “Hopefully we do good enough to be known as one of the best teams in the world.”

“I’m excited about going to Cooperstown and see other teams,” Christopher said.

The Mustangs belong to the California Competitive Youth Baseball (CCYB) organization under the direction of Todd Rogers, Director of Baseball Operations at California State University of Fullerton. The team participates at a high level of competition and participates in tournaments hosted by United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA). Tournaments are held in several locations throughout the Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside Counties such as Champions Sports Complex in Placentia, Big League Dreams Field at Chino Hills and Riverside.

In 2005 the Mustangs qualified through a USSSA tournament earning a berth in the World Series at Steamboat Springs, CO where they placed 4^th in the nation.

The 2007 Buena Park American Little League All-Star Team was honored today at City Hall by Mayor Patsy Marshall, City Council and State Senator Lou Correa.

2007 BPALL All-Star Celebration

Staked-out at the southeast end of Twila Reid Park the 2007 District 29 Champions and Finalists of the Section 5 Tournament Buena Park American Little League Major All-Stars gathered for food, fun and celebration for an accomplished All-Star summer season.

A game of football found the biggest kid of them all, Steve Rivera, as the ringleader amongst the kids. Younger kids were seen roller-blading up and down the cemented pathway at high speeds enjoying the lazy afternoon breeze.

Manager James, the coaches Jeff, Tom and Angel, along with the entire team presented our exclusive videographer, Jim Reich, with a special plaque of appreciation for his tireless professional-quality videotaping of all our games beginning with the District 29 Tournament at Norwalk to the Section 5 series at La Mirada. Because of Jim's dedication we each are proud owners of the entire game library. They are priceless and we could never be more grateful.

And yours truly also received a special recognition award for the photos, articles and podcasts found on this very site. I must say it has been a pleasure covering these games and I thank you, the team, coaching staff and parents for allowing me to be the fly on the wall and capturing all the action on the field. I enjoyed it immensely.

We must also not forgot the mastermind behind the videos and the upcoming City Hall presentation. Let's hear it for Bob Chance Wahlsteen for his vision and foresight in creating memorable pieces of history for each of us.

Thanks again to all the parents, families, friends and supporters who have provided us a foundation and place to come together week after week, day after day in playing and watching the game we are passionate about - baseball.

Justin is congratulated for his contribution to the team as center fielder and shortstop and for his noted falling grab in the outfield which robbed an opposing batter of a hit and potential run. Justin ended with 1 homerun against Tustin Western in the Section 5 series at La Mirada.

Clayton is praised for his first career homerun and grand slam to help BP beat Continental in the Championship game in the District 29 Tournament. He is also praised for his stellar performance at second base.

Devyn is recognized as a key auxiliary player in left field. Devyn also stepped it up with his speed and helping the team out with sac bunts which moved runners over into scoring positions.

Who could forget Luke's strong arm and a throw from right field to catcher Ryan Morgan to keep the go-ahead run at third from scoring?

Cole receives his plaque as he is congratulated for stepping up to the game when called upon and for his great performance in right field. Cole ended with 2 homeruns in the series.

Sam came into the game when pitching was at its lowest and clinched a victory for BP in a crucial make-or-break game against Yorba Hills in the Section 5 series at La Mirada. Sam also contributed with line-drives and by going small ball with a few key hits.

Isaiah receives his plaque and was recognized for preventing runners from reaching first-base with his line-drive snatches and for his base-hits and RBIs.

Ryan played an integral part as pitcher, catcher and shortstop. Remember his shut-out game versus Little Lake and his diving catch in foul territory as catcher during a game against Continental? Ryan pitched a shut-out against North West Downey.

Kyle, one of the "twin towers," was an arsenal threat against opponents with his high velocity pitching and his presence in center field. Kyle ended the series with three homeruns (two in the Championship game against Continental) and a shut-out game versus Little Lake with 15 K's.

Papo, the other half of the "twin towers" helped the team to sure victories with his smoking 75 mph fast balls and "nasty" off-speeds. He pitched a perfect game with 12 K's, no hits, no walks and no runs in the Championship game against Continental to win District 29. As catcher he made a key play with a diving catch in foul territory during a game against Yorba Hills. Papo finished strong with four homeruns with an unprecedented 13 intentional walks.

It was a great run for Buena Park American Little League All-Stars. Ending their season as District 29 Champions, BPALL took a prestigious 2nd place honor in the Section 5 Playoffs.

The 2007 Buena Park American Little League All-Stars are the first team in BPALL history to be recognized with this honor and accolades.

On behalf of all the parents, siblings, families, friends and fans, I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU BPALL for allowing us the opportunity to live through this experience with you. It was through your eyes, your spirit, your hard work, your determination, your willingness on and off the field were we able to reap the same benefits as you - city of Buena Park Champions!

Determination and Defense Kept BPALL Focused on the Win

Buena Park American Little League carried over their momentum from the continuation game into the Semi-Finals and it was 3-D: Drive, Determination and Defense that kept them focused.

Taking the mound was Christopher Rivera who finished the game strong with 10 strikeouts for the win.

BPALL came alive in the 3rd inning as Andrew Romano and Rivera drew walks. Kyle Schultz singled knocking in Romano and Rivera to score. Justin Ray hit a 3-RBI homerun in the same inning.

The final score was Buena Park American 5, Tustin Western 2.

BPALL Wins the Tie

Sluggers and Pitchers Made the Difference

Buena Park American Little League faced Yorba Hills Little League for the second time.

BPALL was scoreless in the 1st inning but later in the game BPALL broke the game open with hits from Justin Ray who singled in the 2nd inning; Andrew Romano singled to left field; Rivera who was intentionally walked; Clayton Vison who singled to left field; Cole Timm who singled and scored Romano; and Ricky Marquez who hit a solo homerun.

Starting pitcher Kyle Schultz threw heat despite YHLL answering back with 3 runs of their own. Relief pitcher Ryan Morgan kept their bats mute in extra innings.

Tied at 3-3 after the 6th inning, Christopher Rivera lined a solo homerun for the potential go-ahead run. But Yorba Hills battled back and scored a run on an error.

Even-slated at 4-4 the lights failed to come on and both teams agreed to a continuation game Wednesday at 5 p.m. This after friends, families and fans waited over an hour for the lights to turn on.

Fast forward to Wednesday July 18.

Buena Park, the visiting team, was pumped and ready to play. Picking up where we left off, lead-off hitter at the top of the eighth, Ricky Marquez doubled to left field. Andrew Romano drew a walk. Christopher Rivera was intentionally walked. Clayton Vison hit into a fielder's choice to third and Marquez was out at home. Runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd. Cole Timm RBI singled to score Rivera while Vison advanced to 3rd. Kyle Schultz singled and bases were loaded. Ryan Morgan doubled to right field and scored all three runners. On an attempt to take 3rd on extra bases, Morgan was thrown out at 3rd to end the half-inning.

Sam Carralejo took the mound with great fashion inducing a ground ball to Romano at 3rd to Terrazas at 1st. Carralejo struck out the 2nd batter. The third batter hit a long fly ball to center field but BPALL's Justin Ray made a diving play for what appeared to be the 3rd and final out but came up short. With one man on 1st Yorba Hills grounded back to Carralejo at the mound which was fielded calmly and cleanly. Carralejo jogged over to 1st base and lightly tossed it to Terrazas at 1st for the final out of the continuation game.

Let There Be Light

Knotted at 4-4 both Buena Park American and Yorba Hills were left in the dark. Literally.

Someone forgot to pay the light bill.

Going into the eight o'clock hour the lights failed to turned on. Postponing the game for almost 1 hour, coaches on both teams decided to call it a night because by the looks of things no city official was going to bust their tail to come out and turn on lights for a little league game. Forgot that.

The game will continue at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. Already in extra innings, BPALL will be up to bat in the top of the ninth inning.

More details will be posted tomorrow.

BPALL Bats Were Quiet

Bigger Bats Tend to Win Games and Bigger Bats BPALL Did Not Have

BPALL bats were quiet most of the night. In the 3rd inning Andrew Romano hit a blooper over the pitcher's head for a single. With Christopher Rivera up to bat, taking a 0-1 pitch a pass ball moved Romano to 2nd. Rivera went the other way with a hit to right field but the right fielder erred and could not hold on to the ball scoring Romano for a run. That would be BPALL's only run of the night.

BPALL came close to their 2nd run but Justin Ray was called out at the plate while stealing home. On a pass ball, Tustin Western catcher hustled to feed their pitcher the ball to tag Ray out at home plate. One would argue with the judgement call made by the umpire. "How do you make a call from behind the play blue," one spectator yelled. Another lone voice almost lost in the crowd exclaimed, "Maybe you oughta get in front of the play to call it blue."

After only 2 innings, Rivera was replaced by Romano on the mound who seemed to have fared better in this one-sided match up.

Keeping up with the hit parade, the final blow was a Tustin Western two-RBI homer over left field to mercy BPALL in the bottom of the 5th inning with a score 11-1.

BPALL Defense Kept District 56 At Bay

Going into unknown territory did not faze Buena Park American Little League Major All-Stars. BPALL stepped it up and represented District 29 proudly by winning Game 1 of Section 5 playoffs.

Kyle Schultz continued on his homerun streak by hitting a bomb at center field to score for BPALL in the second inning.

The game winning RBI for BPALL came in the second inning with bases loaded, Christopher Rivera was hit-by-a-pitch which drove in Justin Ray for a run.

District 56 Yorba Hills scored one run in the 5th inning. Defense was the key to BPALL's arsenal. District 56 hit a line drive to right field but Luke Schultz showed off his arm strength when he threw home on a one-bouncer to Ryan Morgan who fielded it cleanly and kept the potential tying run at 3rd.

Final score: District 29 (BPALL) 2, District 56 (Yorba Hills) 1

Buena Park American Little League celebrated their first All-Star Championship in over a decade.

Coming off a loss in Game 5 to La Palma/Continental Wednesday, Buena Park American was determined not to go down twice.

With their ace on the mound, Christopher Rivera pitched a perfect game with 12 strikeouts, no walks, no hits, and no runs scored.

Helping himself to his first homerun of his Little League career, Clayton Vison hit a Grand Slam giving BPALL a huge lead over Continental.

Kyle Schultz launched two rockets over left field and center field to cement the win in BPALL history books.

BPALL bats were alive with hits from Ryan Morgan with a single to right field; Isaiah Terrazas with two singles; Sam Carralejo hit a double to left field; Cole Timm with a sac bunt; Andrew Romano singled to center field; and Rivera hit a single to left field.

Ricky Marquez and Cole Timm both took one for the team with a hit-by-pitch.

BPALL will go on to represent District 29 in the Sectionals which begin Saturday, July 14. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. versus District 56.

Clayton Vison hit a grand slam.

Kyle Schultz hit two homeruns.

Papo pitched a perfect game: 12 strikeouts, no hits, no walks, and no runs in five innings on just 48 pitches.

Buena Park American Fell Short of the Win

Players and a Coach Ejected for Poor Sportsmanship

A controversial Game 5 between Buena Park American and Continental went sour when BP pitcher Kyle Schultz gave up a 3-run bomber to Continental knotting the score 4-4.

Cole Timm hit a 2-RBI dinger for a score 2-0 after the first inning. By the bottom of the sixth inning BP led 4-1.

A game that Buena Park should have come home with the "V" ended in extra innings and a game winning shot by Continental in the 10th and final inning.

But the mayhem began at the bottom of the 7th inning. Still tied at 4 runs a piece, two runners in scoring position, Continental hit a long fly ball to right field but BP's right fielder couldn't hang onto the ball which slid down his glove. The game should have been over at that point with Continental's winning run crossing the plate.

But on an appeal by BP's coaching staff, catcher Christopher Rivera tagged first base. Turns out the batter never touched the base but rather made an about face to congratulate his teammates who have now gathered at home plate, emptying Continental's dugout. Cheers and jeers bellowed when the umpires ruled Continental's batter did not touch first base therefore nullifying the run scored. The entire Continental coaching staff argued the call. One of Continental's players was cited for an obscene unsportsmanlike hand gesture and was ejected from the game. You get the drift: he gave a one-finger salute. One Continental coach became vocal and belligerent landing him an early trip to the showers as District officials showed him the way to the parking lot.

The public address announcer demanded both sides of the stands and benches to clear out and convene in their respective outfields - away from each other for fear of more unruly chaotic behavior or retaliation.

Public safety officers were summoned and would be seen throughout the remainder of the game.
Oh, and speaking of the remainder of the game: with Schultz exhausting all of his pitches, Ryan Morgan took the mound and proved to be effective in shutting down batters or inducing ground balls for outs at first.

Clearly or not so clearly apparently, with very little daylight left in the game and after having gone through six innings of regulation, the 10th inning found a bouncing line drive hit up the middle which would then score the winning run at home for Continental.

The final score: Continental 5, Buena Park 4.

The sudden death all or nothing forced Game 6 will be held Thursday, July 12 at 5 p.m. @ Norwalk Little League.

BP is expected to start Rivera on the mound.

It's do or die for either team. There's a strong hint in the air BP refuses to go twice in a row to Continental.

Strong Pitching Boosted Buena Park American Little League Major All-Stars to Championship Game

After playing back-to-back games this weekend BPALL's win against LaPalma/Continental hurled them into the winner's bracket which earned them a trip to the Championship.

It was like a deja vu as Christopher Rivera in the first inning crushed a line drive to left center for another lead-off home run setting the tone for the rest of the game.

BPALL played small ball on bunts from Clayton Vison and Ryan Morgan. Vison scored while Morgan was tagged out at second on a steal-attempt. Kyle Schultz singled but later scored on an RBI-triple by Cole Timm. Justin Ray bunted but LaPalma/Continental got the lead-runner Timm out at third. Isaiah Terrazas worked the count for a walk. Buena Park led 3-0 at the end of the first inning.

Starting pitcher Rivera was all business on the mound ending the game with 14 strike outs and only 1 hit. He had help from his infield as Terrazas snatched a line-drive robbing LaPalma/Continental from a potential base-hit. Another spectacular play was a diving catch hit in foul-territory by catcher Morgan.

Adding to the hit fest Sam Carralejo singled. Schultz hit an RBI-single and scored Carralejo. Ricky Marquez, who after striking out during his first at-bat, battled and hit a 2-RBI homerun. After a single by Carralejo, Rivera found himself in a run-down but outsmarted LaPalma/Continental and scored. Terrazas hit an RBI-single and scored Ray.

LaPalma/Continental intentionally walked Rivera twice and Schultz once.

Today's win was the third-straight shut out for BPALL during this All-Star run.

Game 3 Results: Buena Park vs. North West Downey

The Major All-Stars Shut-out North West Downey in Game Three to Continue Their Win-Streak

Pitching for BPALL, Ryan Morgan took the mound and set the tone for the game with 11 strikeouts and only two hits.

Christopher Rivera caught flawlessly behind home plate which included a bunt-attempt grab for the put-out at first.

Rivera's first at-bat produced a lead-off double on which he later scored for the first run of the ball game.

Isaiah Terrazas fake-bunted which led to another run scored by Kyle Schultz from third. BPALL led 2-0 at the end of two innings.

Rivera in the 5th inning came up with a line shot dead center for a solo homerun. The score was 3-0.

On a pass ball, Schultz scored his second run of the game in the fourth.

The final score: Buena Park 4, North West Downey 0.

Next game: Sunday, July 8, 2007 @ 12:00 noon at Norwalk Little League

The Buena Park American Little League All Stars are on a two-game win streak beating Little Lake Little League Tuesday with a score of 7-0.

Kyle Schultz, of the Major Red Sox took the mound and pitched a shut-out six innings with 15 strikeouts and a hit-batter, almost a perfect game.

Justin Ray, of the Major Yankees robbed a would-be home run in deep center field off a Little Lake batter and Cole Timm, also of the Major Yankees hit a home run in the top of the sixth inning to secure the win for BPALL.

Next game: Saturday, July 7 at 10:30 a.m. versus North West Downey at Norwalk Little League Field.

Team effort contributed to Buena Park American Little League's Major All-Stars' 11-1 win in Game 1 against East La Mirada.

BPALL played brilliantly against ELM to win the District 29 opener June 30.

Lead off hitter #21 Christopher “Papo” Rivera crushed a 2-0 pitch over center field for a solo homerun.

East La Mirada answered with a solo HR in the bottom of the 2^nd inning to tie the game 1-1. This would be ELM’s first and only run scored the entire game. After 2 complete innings BPALL led 2-1.

Several players for BPALL scored off strong batting which finally came alive in the 4^th inning. BPALL went on a hit-run-score rally which fared in their favor.

Other contributors were Catcher Ryan Morgan with two doubles and three RBI's; Center fielder Kyle Schultz with a single and RBI, and first baseman Isaiah Terrazas with a single and two RBI's.

Next game: Monday, July 2 @ 5 p.m. versus Little Lake at Norwalk Little League Field
